Speaker 1:

Hello, hello. We have another special bonus episode for you Today. I have Dr Heather Rhodes here and this episode is really specifically for you.

Speaker 1:

If you are a health coach already specifically someone who works with women, a nutritionist, maybe even in the fitness space, and women who are wanting to become health coaches or like wanting to come into this like nutrition and fitness space and work with women, and we just wanted to be able to share some extra value today because there's been a lot, of, a lot of messages that we've been getting. We've been talking to a lot of other coaches and just seeing this big gap when it comes to women's health and when it comes to health coaching, and so we just wanted to be able to kind of like fill that in today, give you a little bit of extra value. So if you are here and you are a coach, we have some resources in the show notes for you that we want you to see and some extra trainings and things that we're going to be doing coming up. And if you're not a health coach and you're just listening to this for fun, welcome. We love you and we're glad you're here too.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah. So I think, just always bringing it back to our mission of like, why we're talking about these things, and really it goes back to Leisha and I seeing such a big gap in health coaches specifically the hormone health coaches having the tools they need to be able to build businesses and not a lot of people having gone before us to do this in a way that efficient but scalable, but also giving you the freedom whether it be financially, time, wise, even the impact that you're wanting to have in this way. And so we both kind of talked about, hey, like what were some of the first things that if we could go back, we would learn, we would talk about, we would focus on when rebuilding our businesses ourselves. And one of the first things that came up for both of us was we'd really want to have clarity and understanding of where we were going and what we were building from the very beginning. So let me let us know if you can relate. You can either send us a message on Insta or you can drop a comment, but at least for us in the beginning, it was like just get a client, like sell yourself, give away things for free, show up, live for 30 days, every single day, and talk, like, get people to like know and trust you. That was the goal. And then when somebody would book a console call, it was like it felt to me. It felt like a lot of pressure. I know we've talked about this was the same, but like I just have to mold myself so that I could get this person to sign up and work with me.

Speaker 2:

And what we both realized and what I think is one of the most pillar pieces of advice we could possibly share with you, is, if you start from the very beginning that you are no-transcript, a method, you are building a solution that is outside of you. That is not just you being able to pick somebody, but you have a method to take somebody from point A to point B to solve a specific problem. If that is your focus and that is what you are focusing on building, that is going to change the way you interact with people, the way you sell, your marketing, your messaging, your sales, and that is going to set you up. It's going to lay this very, very strong foundation so that not only are you starting to book out your 101 clients because it is so clear if they are a good fit and if you are a good fit for them, but also you are creating something that is reproducible. You are creating something that eventually you know we are thinking five years down the road you can back yourself out of a little bit if you decide you want more time freedom. You are also building something that you can increase your impact for, because if you are creating a method and that is your goal from the beginning then you are actually creating something that you can teach other people, and the more people that are skilled in the method you have created and teach, the more impact those people can begin to have.

Speaker 2:

Just tell me a little bit, lisa. When did this happen for you? Did you have a flip from when? Because I know for me it was a very clear switch. Somebody I heard this, ironically, not from a business coach. I have been paying thousands of dollars for business coaches.

Speaker 2:

My very first initial investment in my business was 6K before I had made anything, and I remember being like what are we going to do? For me it was great. I don't regret any of the investments I made in my business, but when I was hiring business coaches to help me, business coaches were very skilled in selling to other business coaches, and a business coach is very different than a health consumer. What was happening for me is I was following the rules, I was doing everything these coaches said, and it wasn't until I went to a training with a health specific coach, somebody who was used to selling in my niche, somebody who was used to selling to clients that needed. What my clients needed as people seeking out a health expert this was something that was shared with me was like hey, you've got to create and sell a method instead of just yourself. I'm curious for you when did that switch or when did you notice something like that happen in your business?

Speaker 1:

Yeah. So what really comes to mind for me is exactly what you said at the beginning. Really. Just I got my certification as an FDN and I kind of had this like general idea that I could help people with gut health, because my daughter had gone through some gut health stuff. And so I was like, okay, well, I can help kids, I can help adults. And I was so excited to work with people and like my heart has always been to help people with their health, and so I was like, yeah, I'll help anyone because, like literally, I can help anyone. Like everyone needs help with their nourishment, everyone needs help with their gut, everyone needs help with whatever. Like whatever it was that I was going to add on to that.

Speaker 1:

And what I realized is like, yes, that's true, and yes, there is some extent that I can help many different types of people, but truly, like I can't help everyone because I have a capacity, and when you're trying to help everyone and when you're speaking to everyone, you're actually not even you're not speaking to anyone. And when you're trying, even if it if you're not even talking marketing and you're just talking like actually working within your health coaching practice when you're trying to help everyone, you can't help them as well because you're rabbit trailing too much, like you're trying to research gut health for brain fog, or then you're trying to reach research gut health for eczema, and then you have someone with a hormone issue and you're like, well, maybe that has to do with gut health, but maybe it doesn't. And then maybe you're, you know, going down this other pathway and I, you know, if you're a health coach or even just like someone who has researched health, you know that it's so easy to go down like so many different rabbit trails and then you get overwhelmed and confused and like, as a coach, that's absolutely not serving anyone. And so for me, I did this for a while and then I realized that the people that I could help the most are going to be people with a similar background to me or a similar story to me, and that that applies sometimes across the board, sometimes not. It definitely depends on the person like who you're trying to help, but oftentimes we do have the most experience and the most passion to learn about the things that we have struggled with. And so all that to say.

Speaker 1:

That is how I started to find my method and create my method, and absolutely was a switch when I realized I wanted to focus on women and hormones and, even more specifically, wanted to work with moms who were having issues after a couple of babies. That really just clarified everything for me and I was able to actually create a method that was reproducible, because I wasn't working with a 60 year old man who had acid reflux and then also a little girl who had eczema and then also a mom who was exhausted after her third baby, because you can't really create a method that works for all of those people across the board, but when you're working with specifically one type of person, you can have this baseline method that is going to get you 80% of the way you need to go, and then you personalize from there.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think that's so good, and a couple of things you mentioned there. Just to highlight is really three things come to mind when I think about someone who is struggling to build a health business, but not necessarily focused on a method, and so one of them you hit on, which is you lose the potency not only of your ability to sell your sales message. Messages aren't as strong If you're selling socially, like it is an ocean out there, and so you want to make sure that you're standing out. You want to make sure that your messages are strong and potent, and I think of it as an example a coach gave me one time is the difference between a highlighter and a sharpie. If I wanted to write something in a highlighter, I would need to press really hard, I would need to go over it three and four times. I would be so frustrated. Why is this not showing up versus if I spent the same amount of time doing the exact same thing with a sharpie? And so I'd say that's a huge difference there is. You can increase your potency by having that focus on your methodology, on your signature method.

Speaker 2:

The next thing that happens is you get burns out or spread too thin. You start having resentment towards your clients. You start getting frustrated when they're asking you questions because you know like this is more work for me. I'm unsure of this answer. I have to go research it and look it up. You are not holding your power and confidence of the knowledge you have because you have sold yourself on something that you might not fully be sold on in and of yourself. You also don't have that evidence in that proof that you're now transferring to clients when you haven't seen something that's worked, tried and true over and over again.

Speaker 2:

I'd say that's one thing that a lot of people will get distracted and that was my third point is that distraction comes in. You get distracted when you're selling yourself and you're selling yourself to anybody and everybody that will pay you because you just need to make money Right. What can happen with that distraction is that you can lose confidence in your ability to be clear on how you're moving someone through a process and one of the best things. If you're getting distracted like, hey, I need to hone in on my sales message, I need to really focus on my social media strategy, I need to make more real, these might be distractions where you're noticing there's a problem with converting people sales-wise, or getting a lot of attention but a lot of them aren't moving into your paid programs, and usually that is a symptom that you don't have the evidence. You need to focus in on one place.

Speaker 2:

And when you have that evidence and by evidence what I mean is like knowing without a doubt my program will take you from point A to point B, because I've seen it happen over and over and over again that brings that clarity and that confidence to completely transform your socials and your sales messages and your sales calls.

Speaker 2:

And so nine times out of 10, if you've got an issue with converting sales, it typically is a confidence issue in your ability to go to a client and say, like, I can take you from point A to point B, and one of the things that will build that momentum and get you there is honestly going to be having a method that you know works, with or without you feeling your absolute best that day when you're showing up on a sales call, because it's not you having to force and pull out all of the energy anymore.

Speaker 2:

You have something that you know can stand on its own, and so I think the next question for most people would obviously be like okay, great, well, how do I do this If I haven't worked with clients before? How do I create a signature method? What do I actually do next? And that is something that Lisa and I have actually created a resource to work alongside of you guys to do and to help you do and to help you create just because we have done it and I have two separate methods. I'm sure you have probably a handful too, lisa not a handful, but I know you have like your signature method, but you've also created methodologies and other areas of your business, and so I know we bring that experience, and so I think it'd be really cool if you just wanted to even hit like a little bit on that and then let people know like where can they reach out to us to see if it would be a good fit for you and I to help them create this signature method, even if they haven't had a client yet.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah. And the other thing that I want to mention too, before I go into this, is you're definitely speaking to it as like for new coaches or for coaches who haven't had a client yet. Absolutely, this is for you, and this is also for you If you're a coach who has been coaching for a while and you have a general, like baseline of what you do, but you don't feel super clear on this is the steps that I take people through. This is why working with me in my method is for these specific people, that clarity and that just like laser focus.

Speaker 1:

Heather and I can both tell you exactly who we work with, exactly how we help them, and that truly does make a huge difference in really, I think, integrity. In when you're talking to someone like, can I help you or can I not, instead of it being like, well, I could probably research some things and figure it out, it's very clear like, yes, I can help you. I've helped hundreds of women just like you or no, and here's a resource that I think would be really ideal for you, because then that keeps that potency and that clarity in what you're doing and you're not trying to scatter yourself. Essentially, so this can be, for you know, multiple different. I would. I don't want to say levels of coaches, but like experience levels and so what?

Speaker 2:

we're just like what you said sorry, just sit but like even somebody who is kind of like a morph of like hey, I'm selling a product that I also want to take people deeper, like I want to coach them on something further and like I know I bring this unique thing to the table that maybe other coaches in your industry or other people that are selling something similar Don't bring. And you're like I really want to know how do I merge these two things so that I'm not just kind of like selling the idea of working with me or selling the idea of joining one of my programs that's a little bit more product based, but also really standing out and knowing like hey, this serves you in this way and this product is something that would be great as an additional.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, absolutely. So what we're doing is we have created a mini mind and I love the idea of a mini mind because it is so hands on, it's very, it's very personalized. But we have created a method essentially to help you walk through and create your method. So to get absolute clarity on exactly who you're working with, exactly how you help them and really like the step by step of how you help them and whatever you know kind of like niche you're in. If you're in the niche of hormones, great, you know that's where we are, but you don't have to be and we can help you walk through and get that clarity so that you absolutely can have that confidence to say this is who I help, this is exactly how I help them and be able to move forward and build from there.

Speaker 1:

Because having that foundation makes it so much easier to do all the other pieces in business. When you're working with social media or you're looking from different ways to market or you're just talking to people about what you do. If you don't have that clarity and you don't have the method, you can be losing so much time and so much attention on what you really need to be focused on. So we're starting that program. I think, if you're listening to this, it's going to be at the end of July, so do reach out to us if that sounds like something you're interested in, because time is ticking on that a little bit and we would love to support you.
